If you knew that Soy contains Estrogen, a female hormone, would you still eat those foods?

>60% of Our food contains Soy!

Soy contains Estrogen, a female horomone

Soy is feminizing, and commonly leads to a decrease in the size of the penis, sexual confusion and homosexuality

If you’re a woman and consuming food products with soy, you’re flooding your system with a substance it can’t handle in surplus. If you’re a man, you’re suppressing your masculinity and stimulating your “female side,” physically and mentally.

Most babies are bottle-fed during some part of their infancy, and one-fourth of them are getting soy milk!

Research in 2000 showed that a soy-based diet at any age can lead to a weak thyroid, which commonly produces heart problems and excess fat. Could this explain the dramatic increase in obesity today?

P.S.: Soy sauce is fine. Unlike soy milk, it’s perfectly safe because it’s fermented, which changes its molecular structure. Miso, natto and tempeh are also OK, but avoid tofu.
I got this from an article that has cites for the information in the “trouble with soy” links. My family runs a farm that mainly produces soy, because it’s about the only crop that’s profitable. Sure the FDA & farmers would like you to believe it’s a myth..but it all comes down to money & not consumer safety. Also, fast foods along with our favorite Big Macs & Whoppers contain soy.

So your reader’s go, whew, glad I don’t eat tofu. Then go down to sonic for a burger made with textured vegetable protein (soy) & carbs (oh my)

How many Americans are overweight because of a medical condition?

This is out of scientific curiosity, not hatred. It is no secret that a great deal of Americans are obese and have medical issues as a result (ex. hypoglycemia, diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure etc…), and that is very sad. I’ve had American friends who are overweight and complain about it, but they do not do anything like dieting or exercising to improve their situations. Many people I know spend a lot of time playing online games or watching movies and eat very very unhealthy foods. I have asked about why Americans have gotten so fat, and I’m told that is rude to ask because they have medical conditions. Is it true that Americans are over-run with thyroid problems and the like or are they trying to avoid personal responsibility? This isn’t a thread about being mean to fat people, so I would appreciate it if people would keep hateful comments to themselves. I am asking for medical data as to how many overweight Americans actually do have pre-existing conditions that cause obesity.
Thank you Deanne.

Thyroid Foods answers:

There isn’t any way to provide a statistic on the percent of obese people in America that suffer from obesity as the direct result of a health problem. The reason for that is that not every person who is obese has been to a doctor to be officially diagnosed with a medical condition.

The facts are that 66% of Americans are obese, and that many factors contribute: genetics, medical conditions, environmental factors, etc. It is also true that many health benefits are gained when even as little as 10 – 15 pounds are lost by an overweight person.

By the way, few obese suffer from hypoglycemia (named in your question), which is low blood sugar. Additionally hypertension is the same as high blood pressure. And you forgot another important issue: obesity can lead to cardiovascular problems, such as artherosclerosis.

I was losing weight, now I’m stuck. I can’t lose any weight. I lost 45 pounds in 6 weeks…then nothing.?

I started a diet and exercise regiment exactly two months ago. I am under the supervision of my PCP she did lots of tests prior to my starting. She recomended I begin the diet and start exercising because I was weighing 350 pounds and she found I had become hypertensive. I am not diabetic, my colesterol is normal and so is my thyroid. The first six weeks I lost 45 pounds and began to feel great. My starting weight was 350 and I went down to 305 and am stuck there. My blood pressure was down and I could walk and run with out nearly dying(lol). Here is my problem I hit the wall. For the last two weeks I have still been counting my calories and exercising 2-4 times a week for an hour cardio only. I avoid fatty foods, soda, salt/sodium, greasy foods and don’t cook with oil. I try not to consumes more than 1200-1500 calories per day. I don’t cheat on my diet, 3 times per week I allow my self something that isn’t part of my diet so I can still go out with friends and such. I am 20 years old so I think age isn’t a factor. I work nights and in an Emergency Room at that so long hours and little time to eat while working is problem for me. Little sleep is also a problem I have not that I can’t sleep, Simply that I have to sacrifice it to have time for other things. Sometimes I have to got several hours between meals and snacks. Do sleeping patterns and time between meals really affect your weight loss?
Any answer constructive answer would help, I am a ER tech however nutrition is not something I know a whole lot about.
I am 5’8, 20 years old and male.

Ok so first of CONGRATS thats a lot be proud!

But here is the deal, the bigger you are…they faster you can lose…
So now your smaller..its slowing down
the second thing… The less you weigh..the less calories you need.. So although you need more to mantain this weight, you need to lessen calories every 10-15pounds you lose to contain losing at a good pace.

Also going out with friends try to cut that back to once a week(or the other 2 times just have a salad(fat free dressing) or lean meat grilled and baked potato or even better sweet potato with only one pat butter..
Because I was same way as you going out and believe me if you look up those calories they add up like crazy!

Time between meals doesnt really mess with weight loss the thing with that is it helps keeping you from indulging or giving in to something bad because you always satisfied if you dont go to long without..

Try eating some raw almond while at work to boost metabolism..
Also add Benifiber or some fiber supplement to keep you full and regular it jump started my weight loss…

Ginger is known to be used to treat occasional nausea and as an aid digestion. Studies also show that ginger is useful for soothing joints and muscles.

How are ginger and thyroid related ?

Cholesterol levels are associated with healthy thyroid function. Ginger helps to support and balance cholesterol levels. Studies are still being conducted, but there is mounting evidence that ginger may help lower cholesterol and promote blood health.

Consult with a doctor if you are taking blood-thinning medication or are taking certain cancer treatments.
