<h2>Is taking thyroid pills for weight loss safe?</h2>
<p>My Dr. has many <strong>weight</strong> <strong>loss</strong> patients whom he prescribes <strong>thyroid</strong> and phentermine. I have done this <strong>diet</strong> (no carbs-3 months long) before with dramatic results (30 lbs) that I kept off. It works <strong>fast</strong> and having the results so soon helps my self esteem&#8230; But I see concerns for taking <strong>thyroid</strong> for <strong>weight</strong> <strong>loss</strong>, though nothing specific except for the warnings. My doctor has not done a <strong>thyroid</strong> level check as he believes the <strong>thyroid</strong> blood levels don&#8217;t show what your body is actually absorbing.  He has many many patients, most of whom come for his <strong>weight</strong> <strong>loss</strong> and <strong>diet</strong> plan. This is his standard procedure. What concerns should I have with this <strong>diet</strong> and the prescribed drugs?<br />
This  <strong>diet</strong> isn&#8217;t just the medicine. It is a very strict NO CARB <strong>diet</strong>!</p>
<p>1st 30 days no carbs only meat &amp; cheese&#8217;s<br />
2nd 30 days add low carb veggies to <strong>diet</strong><br />
3rd 30 days add low carb fruit to the <strong>diet</strong></p>
<p>This <strong>diet</strong> is done along with <strong>thyroid</strong> medication and an appetite suppressant.<br />
and EXERCISE! i joined a gym and walk 2 miles every other day!<br />
I have done this <strong>diet</strong> along with the medications once before and lost 40lbs. After i finished the <strong>diet</strong> and went back to eating what i wanted i gained 10 lbs back. Making a total of 30 lbs I kept off.</p>

<p>Do not take hormones unless you are instricted to do so by a qualified endocrinologist.  Either too much thrdroxin or too little can caude serious problems. Also, thydroxin levels are regulated by sensitive feedback loops, which can be thrown out of balance, and can affect other endocrine systems, in turn.</p>

<h2>I changed my diet, and started exercising 3-4 times a week, what can i do to speed up my weight loss?</h2>
<p>I&#8217;m a 20 yr old female, and I&#8217;m pretty heavy. It&#8217;s always been a problem for me but recently something snapped and made me really upset about it so I&#8217;m doing my best to keep motivated to look better&#8230; and maybe even more important feel better, I&#8217;m just done being overweight and unattractive.<br />
My <strong>diet</strong> before was full of <strong>fast</strong> food and junk, so changing that, although a little hard is definitely seeming worth it already. I mainly buy fruits and vegetables and more fresh stuff in general. No chips/candy/soda, but im not on any sort of <strong>diet</strong> plan or anything.  I do have a <strong>thyroid</strong> problem&#8211; hypothyroidism, which I am on medication for, and recently I signed up for the gym and I&#8217;ve been doing an hour of cardio every other day for almost 2 weeks now.<br />
So far I&#8217;ve lost about 6 lbs. which is good. and i know if i keep going it&#8217;ll keep coming off, but i was hoping maybe there is something, like a specific <strong>diet</strong> plan, or maybe a natural sort of <strong>diet</strong> pill, maybe even a different way to exercise, that could help speed my <strong>weight</strong> <strong>loss</strong> along a bit?<br />
ANY suggestions would be great!</p>

<p class="dtm-content">Well you&#8217;ve done a swell job of cutting back on junk food. Most people can&#8217;t even take that step&#8230;so GOOD job!</p>
<p>Definitely stay with the Natural stuff, even though it&#8217;s tempting to have a go at the sugary food.</p>
<p>I would recommend that you use some herbs like Cinnamon (help with thyroidism), Green Tea, and black seeds.</p>
<p>As for exercise, you don&#8217;t need to be hardcore&#8230;just start by walking 2-4 miles a day (or bicycle 3-5 miles)&#8230;keep a bottle of water with you to hydrate yourself.</p>

<p>last month I went on a protein <strong>diet</strong> and lost around 20 lbs, this month I stopped that <strong>diet</strong> and went back to my old <strong>diet</strong>, only I kept losing <strong>weight</strong> is this normal? I thought after eating like that and going back to an old <strong>diet</strong> you would gain it back faster. I&#8217;m 26, when I was on the <strong>diet</strong> I also took hydroxycut and ali, is it maybe possible that the hydroxycut gave my <strong>thyroid</strong> a boost?</p>

<p class="dtm-content">It takes several weeks for the body to reflect the diet.  On a low carb diet, you deplete glycogen stores.  You can not gain fat stores til *after* the glycogen stores are full.  It takes awhile for the body to refill glycogen stores, unless you really hit the carbs.</p>

<p class="dtm-content">There&#8217;s not much of a difference in the dosage. It could be due to time of day of the testing.  A TSH test will be higher first thing in the morning and lowest around 2PM. If you had an afternoon test, your doctor may decrease your dosage bsed on the lower TSH.  When hypothyroid, TSH testing should be close to when the metabolism is near its lowest for the day and this is first thing in the morning.</p>
<p>As far as lowering the dosage of Metformin. That s normal with weight loss.</p>

<h2>I DO NOT like to take pills that a pharma cmpny has made so is there a good vit for a low thyroid.?</h2>
<p>I have a <strong>low</strong> <strong>thyroid</strong> and it is very hard to lose weight, Dr. cann&#8217;t seem to figure it out 1 says it&#8217;s a little <strong>low</strong> another says your fine. BUT I am still gaining weight  with only a 1000 calorie <strong>diet</strong>.   And Lots of water.  NO SODA! HELP!!!!!</p>

<p class="dtm-content">Dear if you do not take the medication to make your thyroid normal, you risk the thinning of your hair on your head.  And you will feel cold in winter, when everyone around you is comfortable. And of course your weight will stabilize once you reach the proper dosage of thyroxine. I have been taking thyroxine or the generic levothroxin since 1954. I  would be terrible sleepy or tired if not on the medication. And of course with low thyroid, you risk getting a goiter.</p>
