Armour thyroid is a natural thyroid hormone replacement therapy for hypothyroidism patients. Some doctors prescribe Armour only when there is problems with the synthetic therapy, and some just prefer the natural approach.
How is Armour made ?
Thyroid Armour is made from… pigs ! More specifically, porcine thyroid gland that are dried and mixed with other ingredients (non active ingredients) to make tablets.
Usually, doctors prescribe levothyroxine sodium ( under names like Synthroid, Levothroid, Levoxyl, Euthyrox). Armour thyroid is not accepted by all endocrinologist and is considered a little out dated by some. That being said, levothyroxine sodium does not work for everybody as hypothyroidism treatments and they have terrific results with Armour.
