Exercises and living well with hypothyroidism

Some of the symptoms of hypothyroidism can include digestion problems, insomnia, hair loss but the two most common symptoms would be general fatigue and rapid weight gain with difficulty loosing the extra weight. You know you have to eat well and exercise, but… you are so tried ! How do you exercise when you are so tired ?

For some people who suffer from hypothyroidism, exercising can be very difficult and exhausting. Light workouts like walking, cycling, swimming, Pilates and yoga are good choices for hypothyroidism. You want to improve blood circulation and improve your health overall.

But for some hypothyroidism patients, it can be hard to just get out of bed.  What can you do to improve oxygen circulation when you are so tired ?

Breathing exercises :

  1. Breath in slowly, counting 5 seconds.
  2. Hold your breath 5 seconds
  3. Breath out slowly with an “FFFF” sound on 5 seconds

Take a short pause and repeat, counting 6 seconds and adding a second each time. Please pay attention to the 3rd step (breathing out slowly) After holding your breath, you will instinctively want to exhale rapidly. The “FFF” sound will help you muscle your diaphragm and help control the air coming out.

Please do not disregard these exercises because of their simplicity. They are good for anybody and you can feel the effects immediately.
